Auditions for our 2017-2018SRO Young Artist Program will be held on Thursday, September 21st in Drury University's Clara Thompson Hall (900 North Benton Ave.) beginning at 5 PM. Part of the SRO's commitment to music education and arts advocacy, the Young Artist program provides aspiring opera performers valuable opportunities including:
-3 Masterclasses yearly with professional opera artists -Professional development coaching and mentorship -Membership in the SRO Chorus -Consideration for minor MainStage roles when available/appropriate -Consideration for understudy opportunities when appropriate -Participation in the SRO's Voix de ville series -Solo performance opportunities at SRO events
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS -Two arias or art songs in two languages (one must be Italian) -Completion of the form below (including resume and cover photo)
Additionally: 1. You will be scheduled for a 10 minute audition at 5 PM or later on 9/21--we cannot adjust or hold time slots 2. SRO will provide an accompanist for your audition--please bring piano parts for your repertoire
NOTE-The SRO does not offer compensation of any kind for Young Artist participants. Potential Young Artists should either be residents of SW Missouri or willing to travel to-and-from Springfield for full-time participation in all YA activities.
PRINCIPAL ARTIST AUDITIONS
The SROpera does not hold general auditions for principal roles. However, we gladly accept resumes and other demo material via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
