International Opera Star, Michael Spyres, Joins Forces with Jazz Legend Les Brown for Springfield Regional Opera’s Jazz Aria SPRINGFIELD, MO [February 22, 2016] – Springfield Regional Opera presents
Jazz Aria, an unforgettable evening of jazz and opera featuring the talents of internationally renowned tenor Michael Spyres and the multi-talented Branson favorite Les Brown and his 10-piece jazz band. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the DoubleTree Hotel on 2431 N. Glenstone Avenue.
"This will be an amazing evening of music, with something that will appeal to everyone," said Michael Spyres, who is also SRO's Artistic Director. "Jazz Aria is an important element of the recent revitalization of SRO and a wonderful way to let the public realize just how fun and versatile opera can be." The event begins with cocktails and a silent auction followed by a gourmet-plated dinner and the evening’s entertainment. In addition to Michael Spyres, additional performances will feature the vocal talents of Tara Stafford-Spyres, Ann Marie Wilcox-Daehn, and Sean Spyres.
Proceeds from Jazz Aria, SRO's biggest fundraiser, will support the company’s upcoming, fully staged presentation of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro," April 1 and 2, at the historic Gillioz Theatre. This production will feature international and local talent and will mark the debut of the Springfield Regional Opera Orchestra under the direction of SRO Music Director Dr. Christopher Koch.
